I was browsing an interesting japanese site I found in the Disc System thread, and stumbled across this little pic. Here's the page link if the pic doesn't work: http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~nof-h/suka_sega/catalog/mk3-hdsft/mk3-hdsft.html# Anyway, an EPMycard? I see EPROM, or possibly EEPROM (kinda hard to make out) in the pic. So, I guess if this was ever released, it'd mean there's a writable/re-writable My Card somewhere. Anyone ever hear about this? oh, and here's a few other interesting things: http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~nof-h/suka_sega/consumer/g-ice/g-ice.html http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~nof-h/suka_sega/catalog/scsg/sps.gif *MOD 2018* Reattached missing files. |

This is a scan from the very common poster that come with all Sega Mark III. There's a poster/ad sheet which show that at the bottom. Someone own a few of those prototype cards. Basically they were meant to be rewritten in shop, so that people could buy one EP My Card and pay a little amount to get a new card game written on it. I once spotted an obscure auction in Japan with someone selling a Teddy Boy Blues cartridge with no label (note: Teddy Boy Blues was only released as a card in Japan). The Japanese guy I referred the auction too (hoping that I could buy it) bought it for him. The dump gave Teddy Boy Blues (32 kb) plus about 40 bytes of footer including strings "C-501" (Teddy Boy Blues product number) and "1800YEN". Certainly a prototype cartridge to test the system. http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~nof-h/suka_sega/consumer/g-ice/g-ice.html That's Great Ice Hockey. Prize of a BEEP! contest in 1987, to celebrate the release of Phantasy Star. 1000 copies given for the contest. I have one :)
I don't think this is SG-1000 related. It shows Zippy Race, Space Slalom and Up'n Down. Both Zippy Race and Space Slalom were released for SG-1000, but they don't look this those. |

So, were these released to the public, or are they just really finished looking prototypes?
...and how do you turn a Mark III so brown?! |

They are prototypes.
That's the first question I asked :) I think it's just lots of sun. |
