Yes, I'm bumping a six year old thread, but this is very relevant.

My GDRI colleague Dran/Dimitri/DJ Squarewave found this in the GG Kawasaki Superbike Challenge ROM:

ROAD RASH 2 CONVERSION BY TEQUE LONDON

Simply reused code, or was this going to be a Road Rash game at some point? Even if it is just reused code, hey, they really must have been making a Road Rash II for Sega 8-bit!

I'll bump this again with even more relevancy! Two screenshots have surfaced from German mags, I've got all the details and comparison shots posted here:

Sure looks like the same(ish) game to me, I think you're right in assuming they at least share code.

I guess I'll post here what I just posted at the Lost Levels forums...

I just looked at the Kawasaki ROM again and found the Road Rash 2 credits:

8ROAD RASH 2 (TM)
9A CONVERSION  BY
P9TEQUE LONDON LTD
9PROGRAMMING BY
9ALISTAIR  MANN
:GFX    SHAUN MCCLURE
L:GFX              FAD
:SFX     STEVE MORGAN
:PRODUCER   TONY LOVE
L; COPYRIGHT  1991,94
;  ELECTRONIC  ARTS
;    LICENSED  TO
<    TIME  WARNER
L<    INTERACTIVE
<  MANUFACTURED FOR
<      PLAY  ON
= THE SEGA GAME GEAR

The credits for Kawasaki appear after the demo, so that's probably where these would have shown up in Road Rash 2. The only people that worked on both games are Fad Stevens ("Fad") and producer Tony Love.

And I guess these are the names of the other bikers/drivers in RR2 (again, from the ROM):

narked

ace}}}
geezer
thisbe
slug}}
tosh}}

Hi there,

One scan is from "Gamers 9/94", the other one from "Sega Magazin 9/94".

In Sega Magazin 12/94 (released in November), there's another little mention of Road Rash 2, showing the same screen, and saying that release is in November.

In Sega Magazin 11/94 (released in October), there are already screens of Kawasaki Superbikes (but with no release time given). I guess this mention in Sega Magazin 12/94 was from outdated information :)

I have all "Sega Magazin"s from these times, but not all "Gamers". There could be other German magazines with screens or mentions of Road Rash 2.

Seems rather random - but maybe you have to expect that from YouTube? It certainly appears to be a playable ROM in Kega.

I'm pretty sure this is from an actual promo video, not from someone playing in Kega Fusion (that is not the GG border/backdrop/thing from said emulator).

Ah, my mistake. That might explain the VHS-style wobbling in the border.

Turns out all the old promo videos on this YouTube account were taken from the Internet Archive.

Re-mirrored with AVI repack to help non-Microsoft OSes (you may need a decent FFMPEG-derived codec).

Years ago (circa 1995/96), I'm almost certain that I remember a listing in a mail order catalogue for a Game Gear version of Road Rash 2. I asked on this forum a couple of years ago if there had been a release of RR2 on the GG, but everyone seemed certain there wasn't.

It was really common for mail order companies to take pre-orders for games. I've heard of a few cases of games (on other consoles) being listed for years even though they never came out.
