Display more than 256 tiles on screen?
Post Posted: Wed Jan 27, 2021 8:44 pm
Is there an easy way to display more than 256 tiles on screen at once for the SMS in assembly?
Ive stepped through a bit of the forum and the dev section and only found reference to being able to store more than 256 tiles in VRAM, not so much how to set up a situation where you can use more than 256 tiles.

It’s not really an issue. Load your tiles to VRAM, load the tile map, done. It’s no different with more or fewer than 256.

Oh wow Ive been missing a lot of little things lately. I thought the tile ID in each name table entry only used 8 bits not 9. Thanks, this helped me look back and read into the formatting a bit closer. I didnt realize it described each bit for 0-15 not 1-16 so when I saw the 8 I assumed that was the 8th in line starting from 1.
