Tower of Sorrow digital release!

Hello my friends!

So Tower of Sorrow was on second place in Hack competition 2020. Back then i told that this game will be still in develop, and now is finished!

Digital release include:
2x rom .sms hard one with 15 lifes and easy with 99 lifes
ready to print:
- cover box art
- box art poster A4
- World map poster with no spolers A2
- World map poster with everything A2
- Manual

edit: all codes are used

yup! but i will fund it via kickstarter. It wont be just game in box but everything from digital + soundtrack with modern and 8bit songs and keychain! So I think it will be worth to buck. I was trying to find everything on my own but also i was yesterday talking with Yéti beacuse he have know-how and helped me with a few things :)

Just tried the complete version, you actually changed jump SFX :D But not the text one. You should update your demo.

yup. I saw a lot of people prefer first download demo so i updated it today. I forgot about text sfx but i dont know if would it change a lot, still good to considering that.

Hi, I completetly agree about removing text sfx from Alex. I do believe it's important.

Good news!. When a game is as important as Alex Kidd, we have very inside us its sounds, then it is impossible to focus when we hear its sfx in another game.

About the physical edition, Do you manage any timetable of the kickstarter campaing?.

Yes, I guess it is the best way of removing possible problems. There's nothing like feedback to improve the final result.

If there will be update or fix then YES. So far i got message about one bug and i added that new version of the game. If you buy it, or assign code to your account then you can update or download.

Yes, previously what i wanted is producing 100 copies of ToS in version how i imagine but its hard to promote this game so its a bit discoreages to fund it via kickstarter (fail ratio i think i too high). I see people asking me about physical copy but i dont know how many of them acualy is. Revo suggested me Ichigobankai and i need to contact him/them about ToS. I still want to do that deluxe version but now i considering two options:
1. make free preorder file on project page, this way if there will be small amount of people who are interesting with physical version, i will try to produce those copy by myself and then sell them when they will be ready.
2. if there will be alot of people i will ask them to pay for physical version upfront.

Yeah but is not that simple. Mostly beacuse i would like sell this for 60$ i think but if i do this via kickstarter i will cost more and if i do this via itch.io it will cost 120$ becuase 50% of that itch.io will took. So i will do this propably like preorders via itch but payments directly to paypal, outside that i will need collect everything and that also will take a time, risky action. I need to be 100000000% sure about everything and secure everything. It's still pandemic time so shipping also could be a part of the problem both from my to buyers and from manufacture of parts to me.

Easy. I don't think I'll make it very far on hard, but I'm going to give it a try today. Thanks again! This is probably the most fun I've had with a homebrew.

Hi Steiger,

I'm playing through version 1.3 on Hard right now and have a couple of nitpicks you may or may not be aware of. The title screen still reads "Digital Version 1.1". Also, on the tower stages that show the stage number on the bottom left at the beginning, all of them that I have seen after "S:01" show as "S:02". It's also worth bringing up that these numbers don't correlate to those on the map screen. "S:01", the first tower stage, is actually #4 on the map. #5, #6, and I think #7 show as "S:02". Then #11 shows as "S:05".

Looks exciting!

I've got a couple of games on pre-order with 2minds and had another already, so fingers crossed. :)

But lets face it, you can take your time.

There's no rush as we've had these machines nearly 40 years, so if there's a bit of a wait for a new physical cart it's not the end of the world!

Its finally happens. I prepared first google form where you can see physical version mockup and also declare your willingness to purchase Tower of Sorrow. It is first stage, where i want to know how many peoples are interesting:

with this option you will receive 2 cartridges?? and the price is the same as the other previous options, around 60$?

And another question, when you write the colours this way:

red/white/green

I dont know what would be red or white or green.

Thats mean in game box will be 2 cardridges, so its 60$ + additional cost for extra card + shipping cost.

This game use 3 colors to represent things: red for background, white for colliders (platfoms walls etc.) and green for enemies and dangerous.

Only played this version. (Easy fixed rom)

On entering the shop the screen goes black and flickers. 50% of the time the shop appears and the game carrys on. The other 50% the screen goes black, flickers and then the console crashes to a blue screen and I have to turn on/off to restart it.

Its an sms version 1 with snail maze built in

Love the game btw

every sms version 1 have snail maze :D on my v1 that have safari and hang-on its filcker once on first shop but never crash console. I wrote about this to Calindro, if you can please record it for me

It does it about 30% of the time roughly. I played it 10 times to that point and it did it 3 times.
