I'm pleased to announce the release of Klondike Solitaire for the Sega Master System and SG-1000.

The classic solitaire card game now available for the Sega Master System. Sort the cards into order. Left button to select a card to move, then again to move the card. Right button to move the to bottom of the pile, then again to move the the deck. Right click also automatically moves a card to the foundation, if valid. Hold both left and right buttons together to resign the current game.

I wasn't going to. I'm not really set up to do mode 4 graphics.

I'm sure it will be easy to find someone to convert them for you. There's a couple of talented artists around here, and the scope of the work seems very manageable.

Sorry, what I meant to say is my own code is only Mode 2 and I'm not sure I want to go to the effort of recoding it in Mode 4. Part of my interest is I had a SC-3000 computer, I only had an SMS when I was older. I might have a look into how mode 4 works and see how much effort it will take.

Do you think it would be worth the extra time? Will many more people play it when it's more colourful?

You might consider automatically detecting the ability to use mode 4 based on the available RAM size. Adding mode 4 will get you compatibility with Game Gear and Mega Drive which will get you far more potential users, particularly on real hardware. I know mode 4 pretty well but not mode 2, but I guess it’s very similar, just 4bpp instead of 1bpp and correspondingly different attributes for the tiles. I guess it would avoid the attribute clash on red cards and allow more traditional art for the face cards. Sadly the classic Susan Kare cards are much too high-res to use here :)

I think that SC-3000 or SG-1000 has totally not appeal outside New Zealand or Australia. Mojon Twin's SG-1000 games are the LEAST downloaded ones from their website.

Let me just say this: if you make a Master System version, I'll gladly record a video of it to help you spread the word. I'm always looking for new interesting content to feature on my channel, and Solitaire is a timeless classic.

I didn't have the chance to try it yet, is there any sound/music in it? I'm asking because this might make things problematic.

Thank you, I love the sg1k and very happy when there's something new for it!

p.s. it might also be trivial to make Colecovision and MSX compatible versions if you're looking for exposure. Though - me - I'm perfectly happy with the sg1k version!

best regards,
- dink
