Connection between Alex Kidd and Pit Pot?

Ok... I was looking some manuals scans in the SMS Power!, and I checked something very very very curious.
The name of Alex's brother is Egul (イグル), and the name of Egul's fiancee is Rooney Hime (ルーニー姫). Note: "Hime" means "Princess" in japanese. Correct my japanese to "engrish" translations if I'm wrong. The names are from the japanese version of the game, once the name of Alex's Brother is Egle and the fiancee is Lora in the western version of the manual.
Now, looking at the japanese Pit Pot manual, I noticed the hero's name is Egul (イグル), and the princess name is Princess Rooney (プリンセス ルーニー).
Are Alex's Brother and his fiancee, and the hero and the Princess from Pit Pot the same characters?

Cool... That's makes sense, and explain too, why the Pit Pot musics are part of Alex Kidd Complete Album.
So, that's means Pit Pot is some kind of Alex Kidd's spin-off.
And if you want to have all Alex Kidd games, Pit Pot must be in your collection.

pit pot doesn't look like it's all that fun though. Thought maybe it was some other sidescroller.
