Konami Hyper Shot controller

Hyper Shot
2-buttons controller released by Konami in Japan. This is a quite original peripheral, as it is meant to play *only* Konami's games Hyper Olympic and Hyper Sports. This controller has 2 buttons and NO directional pad or stick. Obviously it is specialized in button mashing. :) Its design allows for two players to interact with it from both sides (with the connection cord coming from its side). I haven't checked but I suppose that either Hyper Olympic or Hyper Sports allow 2-players game sharing a stick. |

The Atari 2800 is mentioned on the back of the box. Would this work with the 2600 version of Track & Field?

Well I don't know how it plays, if 1 button without direction can be enough.

Nice find, I like odd-ball controllers like that. It looks very 80's :)

That's too interesting... Konami made games for the "N" company on the late 80's.... and this controller compatible with SC-3000....

The controller Atari packaged with it looks similar, except it has two run buttons. |

Since this thread came up with some nice pix when I searched for the Hypershot, I wanted to update it a little bit, with regard to the 2600/2800. The Hypershot won't work with any Atari games. Both Track and Field and Decathlon require left, right and fire. When I tested the Hypershot with a 2600 Test Cart, one button is fire and the other is both right and down at the same time. This mapping won't work with any 2600 game. So in other words, it's not that obvious that it won't work usefully on a 2600 and the box is incorrect as no game was developed for the 2800 to use it. |
