Rare SMS Pad Checker cart

I saw a SMS control pad checker cart on the bay and was curious as to how rare an item like this might be. The price seems a little high but I could be wrong. Anyone have any more information on this item?

It never stops to amaze me how much info is on the web about obscure SEGA items. Thanks for the info. So is the price asked too high for such a normal item then? It isn't exactly a proto or beta of anything.

Yeah it is not realy a "rarity". I wouldn't buy it for more than 10$, because it can be made out of any cartridge, just replacing the cartridge rom with 0.99$ eprom (with the program on it). I don't believe this case is anything else than that.
EDIT Look I just made one also with battery save memory :-) with small help of the Monopoly cartridge... |

I totally agree, That price on ebay is insane. I also have a home made version that is pretty much identical. P.S. jpx072 - Whats the red thing sticking out the side of your SMSII? |

To james costello...just the multibios mod .. its a turning switch for switching the bioses. (http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10908)
The other two are language and 50/60Hz switches. |

hmm...you know, remove the sticker from that monopoly cart and stick some "aged" (a.k.a put in the toaster oven for a few minutes) tape and label, you could fetch some coin on the bay from those saps ;) Mark an "M4" on it to make it look official lol

I just noticed this item (including bid from smspower :P )
Its at a ludicrous price of $152.00 (AUD) now, I'm geussing the current high bidder is a reseller probably hoping to make a quick buck. |

I don't see why you would have to use Monopoly? Mines made out of a Transbot cart, its only 32k so doesn't need a mapper..

Sure :) monopoly is my dev cart, I use it for testing... there is a socket soldered, so I can change eproms anytime. You can use any cart. SMS can handle up to 64KB (or just 32KB? now I am not so sure...) without mapper.
BTW- It would be fun if the cart on ebay is also a home-made... :) |

Stepanic is out of his mind, had an obsession with this cartridge since I refused to trade him one of mine... But really this is insane as said. Making fakes at least would reduce the insaneness of this. ;)

ha ha, I cant beleve he has paid that much, and he knows full well who can make carts on sega8bit on request. this is surly a case of bidding too much in the heat of the moment and not expecting the other bidder to have gone so high?!

Doesn't surprise me one bit. eBay has gone so far as to allow bidding type games like "bid racer" lol. It can become am obsession from what I have heard.
