·( Advanced VGMTool usage )·
Here are some more features of VGMTool I haven't covered yet...
- Click on the Check button in the VGM Header section to check that the lengths written in the file are correct. They almost certainly will be; this button is just there because it's a good place to start a VGM parsing program.
- If you recorded a file at the opposite rate to the one you meant to, you can use the 50<->60 button to convert the file from 50Hz to 60Hz or vice versa. Note that some games detect the system speed and play the music at the same speed at both settings; usig this function on such VGMs will not give the desired effect. Overall, it is better to re-rip at the correct settings to be sure of getting correct data.
Click on Write to text to read the VGM file, and write out a text file (with the same name as the VGM file, but .txt extension) showing the data and what it means. It will produce very large text files!
- Click on Decompress VGZ to decompress a VGZ file to a VGM file.
- Click on Play file to play the file in Winamp. Note that you must have associated VGM and VGZ files properly (using Winamp's Preferences dialogue) for this to work properly!
- Not relevant to VGM, but... if you want to put non-ASCII text on your webpage easily, use the Paste Unicode button to convert it to NCRs (see the tagging page for information) and put that in your page. Note that it has a limit of about 2KB, I don't recommend that you come too close to this; and Netscape doesn't handle NCRs as well as Internet Explorer.
