There really are a lot of icons around that are total rubbish. Here I think what's needed is 256/high/true-colour or very good 16-colour icons. There's really two kinds of sets - general icons and Calmira sets, with the special names so they will replace the standard ones. Note that I've tried to keep the images on this page to a few KB each so the quality isn't great.
