As Im nearing completion of my PAL collection (about 75 titles to go of which at least 50 very easy to find) Im trying to figure the total amount of titles released in PAL format.
Im EXCLUDING variations such as KIXX, Virgin/Image works, Sega Classic rereleases etc.
Im coming around 290-295 releases.
Please give me info on these titles (correct me when wrong:
-Alf -Us only?
-American Baseball - PAL
-American Pro football - see above.
-Astro warrior stand alone - US only?
-Astro warrior pit pot combo - PAL
-Buster douglas boxing - Unsure
-Excellent dizzy - Proto only
-Great '...' releases, all PAL?
-Hang on/astro warrior/ - Hangon Safari hunt - PAL?
-Kings quest - US only?
-Mahjong - HK only?
-Marksman trap blahblahblah combos? - PAL
-Montezumas revenge - US only?
-Pat riley basketball - UR PAL? Proto?
-Rambo - CAN only
-Rambo II - Secret command PAL?
-Reggie J. B.B - US only
-Spiderman vs xmen - Unreleased
-Walter pay. football - US only
-Where in the world is .. - US only?!
Thanks.

I'm chasing the same goal myself, and from what I've seen (largely Bock's excellent list) there's 280 'proper' European/Australian PAL releases (I'm missing about 28 :) ). That includes the Image Works/Virgin variations, but not Kixx/Classic reissues. I'll give you a copy of the list I'm working from, if you want.
It's complicated by the fact that lots of US games were imported here after the SMS died an early Stateside death, which is why US releases pop up on eBay UK fairly often.
Yup.

The Great Soccer cartridge was only sold as 'World Soccer' (the Great Soccer card is a different game)
Great Ice Hockey is US-only (as is the Sports Pad).

Nope, US only (I think).

No genuine Euro copies exist, although US copies of Carmen were definitely distributed over here in stores. I'm not so sure on Kings Quest & Montezuma's, but there's a fair chance they also were.

Yeah, just released as Secret Command over here.

Seems pretty much what I thought it would be.
What rarer (well harder to find anyway) releases are you missing?
For me.. Power strike II, Buggy Run, Super off road,Championship hockey & Sega tournament golf.
Sonic spinball, Home Alone, Smurfs 2, Micro machines, Cosmic spacehead are in the bag. (thankfully)

Cosmic Spacehead isn't really that rare. It pops up often. Neither Micro Machines (maybe it's a less common than Cosmic Spacehead, thought) and Super Off Road, I'd say.
Smurfs 2 is definitively the rarest. Where did you got yours?
Buggy Run and Championship Hockey comes next.

I've asked before and I'll ask again.
Is there any plan to add the game numbers to this list?
The game numbering system Sega used is logical and by far the best way of organising the games into the various families and it allows the easy recording of some of the game variants.
ie. World Grand Prix 5053 vs. World Grand Prix 5080 etc.
Here's one list with lots of the numbers (I this found on the web years ago and have added to it over time)
Its still missing lots of titles.
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~pinwhiz/smsgamelist.htm
Do you need volunteers to collect these?

I'd rank Home Alone, Robocop 3 and T2: Arcade all above Buggy Run - I've seen a few copies of that, but only one or two each of the others. I got my copy of Buggy Run for £1.99 about a month ago :)
The rarest ones I'm still missing are probably Smurfs 2, Champ. Hockey, Home Alone, Robocop 3, both T2's, Ultimate Soccer, Power Strike II and Daffy Duck.

Yeah you're right about Cosmic spacehead..well it was expensive a couple of years ago but those codemasters games really went down in price..
I got Smurfs 2 from IBazar (Dutch version Ebay back in 1999)
25 guilders, unopened. (12 euro ^_^)

YES.
I didn't really work on it yet, but started talking about it with Cortex. He wrote a very good, alternated list but it's in french.
I might convert the list to a database and output to HTML. The slight problem with text is that it's difficult to maintain a proper layout. What do you think?

Do you remember the seller, where he was from?
I got a second copy from German eBay years ago, but handed it over to someone *grin*

My copy of Buggy Run has washed out colors on the side. If someone has a spare one I'll take it.

Yeah. He was Dutch as well. He had like.. 10 copies..should've bought more..oh well at least I got ONE..didn't know that the game was so rare (and naturally neither did he)untill it went for $113.50 at ebay.com back in 2000 or so.

Do you remember his eBay name?
I think it's the same person from who all known copies originated.

Most Office apps like Word and Excel can output to text with layout. Failing that, exporting to HTML and then saving as text can work.

I'd agree that most of those are some of the hardest titles to find, personally to complete my Pal release collection I need:
Great Soccer (Card), boxed Hang On (card), Championship Hockey,
Speedy Gonzales in Cheese Catastrophe, Home Alone, Smurfs2,
Ultimate Soccer.
+ I would like a few variants: Assault City (7040 – Light Phaser), World Grand Prix (5035)
So if anyone has any of these for trade sing out :)
The Light Phaser Assault City is a curious one - is it as rare as it seems?, or do I just need to look harder at all the normal copies of Assault City?
The last time I saw it sold on uk ebay it was the right cart but it came in the normal 7034 version box. Seller said he bought it new like that.
Buggy Run is relatively easy to find here in New Zealand as are the T2s.

Bah! I traded away a copy of the Great Soccer card just last week. Your best bet is to keep an eye on German eBay - they pop up every now and again, and usually sell for €10-€20.

Yeah, I got mine dirt-cheap by checking every Assault City that appears (it's in the 7040 box). Sooner or later there will be a phaser one.

Not really. He was around at the Gamefaqs board as well.
My ebay feedback history doesn't ring a bell.
You have any ideas? I think I'd reconize it.
