Hey there.

So, I've made a cover version of the Theme from Phantasy Star.
It's short and to the point, my first cover of video game music, and for the 20% extra awesomeness, I slapped together some sort of artwork for it ;)

Greetings from Austria.

Oh wow, after hearing what the other guys came up with, I feel that my little tune is way too short and tame. Ah well, it was fun to make.

Thought I'd give some additional info on how the track was made:
I used ableton live to make the song, loaded up a mp3 of the theme track to listen to and get the stuff right. Wanted to sort of go from a rhodes/bell like thing to some old-school breakbeat stuff with a deep bass, all within a minute. The second half is a little faster overall, with the tempo going from around 146 or so up to 155.

Anyways, hope someone likes it, it was fun to try covering a song from one of my favorite games of all the time.

I really like how the intro (first half) is slow and relaxing, especially with the music-box like instrument you used; it's a nice contrast to the upbeat and energetic original tune which is driven by a fast drum pattern.

This is short and to the point.
Things i liked : your rhode sound is really cool, is very soothing and it really serves the mood of this tune.
I don't know if you played or programmed, but either way, good job.
The drum sounds are cool, but a little overpowering, the kit sounds really nice.

Things i suggest to improve:
The transition between the two parts were a bit abrupt and so it was the ending. The mix had the drums a bit overpowering.

And i personally didn't cared for the bass sound, but it's a personal opinion and this style is really not my forté, so i don't know if it fits or not.

Overall, i loved the first part, and enjoyed the second.
Good job.

What sub did you mix this on? Listening on my KRK 10" sub it sounds really bass heavy. Love the break beat though.
