Galaga '91 for Master System
Post Posted: Sun Mar 23, 2014 5:29 pm

Thanks to Vingazole for the adaptation of the palettes and for the configuration of the button start on the button 2 of the controller 1.

I deleted the GG ports and changed ''sega game gear'' by ''master system'' on the first screen.

Rom with checksum ok attached to this post.

Cheers.

A bit glitchy, but still a very good conversion!

Nice conversion.

Are you planning to do the same with the European version (Galaga 2)?

Why so much concern about the European versions of GG conversions?

You weren't looking for an easy repro avenue, surely? ... Right? :-|

Not at all. I don't even have the possibility to do repros myself.

It's simply because it makes more sense to have western/european variations of Game Gear games converted to the Master System for authenticity purposes (unless they are Japan-exclusive games of course, you converted a couple of Japanese exclusives in fact).

After all, the Master System was already discontinued both in Japan and North America when the Game Gear was released in those territories, so the concern goes only in order to have a more accurate match to what could have been officially released for the Master System back in the day.

Thanks to vingazole, now the conversion has also been applied to Galaga 2 (European version of Galaga '91) for those who prefer it. :)

Yes I unzipped the files, both have the correct .sms file extensions. One of the versions stops at 0 when you originally try to load it, the other I just get a garbled screen...very odd!!!
