Translation help

Have the articles and interviews here ever been translated to English? I'm using Google translate to read them, and they look really, really interesting, but it's also very frustrating, as most of the time I have to guess what they are really talking about. Being able to read the thoughts of the people who created Alex Kidd and other classic Sega games is fantastic though.

I guess making proper translations of all the interviews would be a very huge job, but I am sure many people would be very grateful if someone who knows Japanese did that job ...

Nice! Thanks! Let's hope someone takes it upon themselves to translate the rest of the stuff there.

We could set up some pages for collaborative translation work on those articles if people are interested in doing so. I don't have any ability beyond using a few translation services.

While we wait for that, I stumbled upon some other Sega 8-bit related interviews. Not sure if they have been mentioned on this forum before:

Yuji Naka on programming Girl's Garden (SG-1000) and Phantasy Star (SMS) - and other games. Seems he really likes Girl's Garden, maybe because it was his first game. I even saw another interview where he mentioned that "Girl's Garden" and "Phantasy Star", not any of the Sonic games, where his favourites amongs the ones he had made.

Yuji Naka on programming Space Harrier and Out Run for the SMS

That link also mentions this book http://www.gameforfun.com/en/product.asp?product_id=10460 which I would love to get my hands on. Anyone here who owns it? Too bad it seems to be in Japanese ...

It works here. Although only some of the articles work. I guess we will have to use http://archive.org/web/web.php to find the ones that don't.

Well lets hope someone with the time or clout or ability will respond to this request and we can have a lot of stuff translated. I bet some of it makes brilliant reading.

A remake of Girl's Garden? That'd be interesting. I think I'm gonna play it now.
