Best Golf Game for SMS
Post Posted: Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:51 am
Curious on what is the best Golf game for the SMS. I don't have any sports titles mostly because they have bad reps. So, if there's a hidden Golf gem out there let me know!

I don't know if it's the best, but I used to have a fondness for PGA Tour golf

The best at my opinion is Sega World Tournament Golf (1993): by far, it has the best graphics and smoothness of control of all the golf games on the Master System. It can be played by a maximum of 4 players, with up to four competition modes: individual (1-4 players), fourball (4 players minimum), foursome (4 players minimum) or matchplay (only on 2 players mode) Also, it has some difficulty options, regarding the accuracy of the shots, the distance to the green from the tee, the number of holes, and the clubs you want your caddy to carry. It's a pity it only has two courses, but they are pretty challenging! Give it a try! =)

Great Golf (the western one) is likely NOT best golf game.
While mostly enjoyable game, 3 most difficult holes set you back all you can gain in the rest 15.

Was there any golf titles that were pick and play? Like Mario Golf?

My other half and I played Great Golf for a little bit tonight, and we enjoyed it a fair bit. Sure, the screen drawing takes a while, and there were a few other quirks -- I don't think it tells you the distance to the hole once you're on the green (which is annoying), and the hook/slice mechanics were confusing until we read the manual.

But we had fun playing through four holes' worth of the course, and were tied -- until I bombed the fourth hole...

BTW does anyone know what the voice samples are supposed to be saying? I couldn't make sense of any of them.

Sounds to me like "patience!" when hitting with full power and "awesome" or "handsome" when playing well to green, but that's more likely "nice on".
That's my best guess.

That's right, one of them did sound kinda like "Nice one!", but I wasn't sure whether to believe my own interpretation.
