How can I enable FM sound on Wonder Boy III via Neo Myth MD 3 in 1?

I own the original game, but really wanted to experience this with FM sound. Emulators are not the same. There is nothing like original hardware, so I was excited about this flash cart. However I am unable to get FM sound working when loading this game.

Please advise.
Thanks!

Hack the ROM to disable the code where it checks if it's running on a Japanese console?
There's got to be a few other topics on that.

You would think right! I have found one mention and it talked of using a hex editor to change some codes, but I don't know what hex editor they used to do the hack. I tried searching for the code they were talking about and came up totally empty.
