I recently found out about the FM sound chip and it has me really excited. I have scoured the internet (searched google and ebay) and haven't been able to find any kits or sms's with an fm sound chip mod already on them.

I am not sure but I assume the Sega Mark III will only play Japanese games and will be much more expensive than a US SMS with the FM chip.

How much should I be looking to spend? Should I be looking for the kit or a pre-modded sms?

Sorry if this is a confusing post being a WTB/Don't know exactly what I want.

After looking at the instructions I am leaning more towards buying a pre modded unit.

What would one cost me?

It's believed possible to use Sega's original FM unit. But currently no one has created a "Mark III to sms" expansion port adapter to verify the theory. (Mark III expansion port was located in front instead of rear)

Making that part should also let sms use an SG-1000 keyboard, it used the same slot as the FM unit.
