Anti piracy code

Are there any games with anti piracy code? For example, detecting SRAM which should not be present, and affecting the game somehow. I seem to remember someone mentioning it but I can't find the topic now.

Maybe you're talking about the GG2SMS conversion of Gunstar Heroes by sdsnatcher? You asked him some questions but he didn't gave any info if I remember right.
