This is a mod made with KiddEd by Yéti Bomar.

Demo 4 is available, 10 levels and lots of bosses. This is probably the last demo before physical release.

Available in English, French and Portuguese here: http://yeti-bomar.blogspot.fr/

Gameplay video:
Part1:
Part2:
Part3:
Part4:

Enjoy!

This is good!

Those new graphics are great and love the colors. Wonderboy 3 shop keeper makes an appearance! I like the stage layouts too. Gona have to give this one a play!

This looks great, I look forward to trying it.
Any chance it could be called Alex Kidd 3 though? :-P

Nice screenshots! The ´2´ should be removed though, Alex Kidd - Curse in Miracle World would be better. The only exception would be an official permission from Sega to release it :D

No idea how they got the information but ''Le Monde'' (one of the biggest media in France) did a little new on the game: http://www.lemonde.fr/world-wide-wow/article/2017/01/11/les-nouvelles-aventures-...

Wow. Now it´s a good question if this is good or not, because too much attention could Sega piss off if they recognize it *lol*

Interesting article (in French) about the game on MO5:

http://mag.mo5.com/actu/108254/une-suite-non-officielle-dalex-kidd-sur-master-sy...

The article talk also about KiddEd and Duke Nukem, and about my tutorial video on how to use KiddEd (in French).

So, two different Alex Kidd 2s will be released. Two Alex Kidds with no license. It all makes no sense in any way, no matter if the games are good or not. At sega8bit, the users are excited about Ian´s game, and here the users are excited for Yeti´s version. Interesting to see how the thing gets solved ;)

I'd recommend dropping the numbers for both releases. Makes life easier, mutually.

License is probably very hard and expensive to get, and anyway a new Master System game is hard to sell, no more than 200 copies by year. So there is no point excepting loosing money and time.

At Master System France forum we like very much the Yeti's version and don't accept Ian's version as a Alex Kidd 2. Ian is the administrator of sega8bit so of course people over there are excited about his games^^
Personally I never been a huge fan of Alex Kidd games but I think that Spitfire SP20 can be very cool in the future.

I agree with Flygon: In Germany we say it´s ´healthier´ for you :D

I know mate, my point of view is if you wanna make it an official sequel, a license is important. With a license, you can avoid that two Alex Kidd 2s are being released. But I still agree with Flygon, it would be better to not use the 2 since it´s an unofficial (but well done so far) fan made game.

I like Yeti´s game, ´cause he´s creating new, different sprites while the other game has the same sprites from the first game. So in Yeti´s game, you can see a clear step forward. But there is something in my mind that hinders me from buying it upon it´s release. Please look what ShadowAngel wrote here: http://shinobiman.proboards.com/post/118319/thread

Ian's and Yeti's respective games have really different approaches to creating a new game set in Miracle World.

Ian's game picks up where AKIMW left off, both story-wise and from the perspective of game design and mechanics. From the get-go, its difficulty is as high as that of the later AKIMW levels, mechanics like secret passages or the switch blocks, which are introduced gradually in the original game, are present from the very beginning, and some of the puzzles require prior experience with their elements. Overall, Ian's game feels like a level pack that extends the original rather than a standalone game. In a way, it's to AKIMW what Lost Levels is to SMB.

Yeti's game succeeds better as a standalone game, and it's easy to imagine that a proper 8-bit sequel to the original would have looked just like it. The difficulty curve is more forgiving, and new elements are introduced gradually and in ways that teach new players how to use them, quite similar to how the original does it. The graphics are updated ever so slightly, giving the impression that the game is set in the same world as the original while improving on it.

However, I agree with the other posters that neither game should use the 2 in their titles, as I feel only Sega have the right to announce a proper sequel. And even Sega have chosen to not use numbers for any of the Alex Kidd games they released.

Much stupid (and some sensible) discussion removed. Please, discuss the hack. Do not discuss any generalities of hacks here, start a thread if you must. Bear in mind that personal attacks will *not* be tolerated.

Somehow, I don't think this game would get Sega's stamp of approval...

I don´t think that Fuck Off Head fits into this game (compared to the original game), but I like him for some reason haha^^ The idea is just awesome.

Edit: What about West Coast Head or Trekkie Head? :D Especially a Trekkie Head would be an amazng hommage to Mr. Spock.

Hmm, in the first castle I ascended a ladder into what looks like a boss room, however the ladder disappeared and nothing happened. Did I do something wrong? Do I need to restart?

edit: I restarted and played again because I think it's great, and the second time it worked as normal. Got to the end and can't wait for the next update. :)

As you know me, it was a little ironic :P I know people hate me for this :D

But seriously, the question is: What makes those numbers so important for you? It can be an outstanding fan game without those numbers. To be honest, I was going to support Yeti´s game. It has so many good and innovative ideas, and if it´s going to be released in physical format, I was tempted to write an article about it, but with that number I refuse to buy it. Because it just feels wrong.

And in addition, if you take a look at the famous Tips & Tricks book, Alex Kidd in High-Tech World is listed as Alex Kidd III. So, Alex Kidd II should be Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars, which makes Ian´s game looking dumb. It´s like Wonder Boy III: The Dragon´s Trap :P It just even makes no sense anymore to say that both games are specifically related to the Miracle World series then.

It´s a pity because I love the last videos Yeti has posted on here.
