Quite a cool mod found on the japanese auctions, bit expensive though...

Amazing, but way to expensive.

Anyone have an idea of which screen is used for this hack?

Looks like another GGTV screen hookup so GG games will have huge borders, plus it's an analogue video path with scaling so presumably it'll be pretty fuzzy. Maybe OK for SMS mode games.

Edit: not true, see below.

Are you sure?

The blue PCB looks like a custom design based on a large CPLD.

There's no chance it's an all digital scaler + LCD-controller?

If so, it justifies the price. Scaling 144px to 240 will be ugly though.

Hah, so cool! Though it scaled the internal GG screen and not the output!

He has more pics here:

LOLs at the amazing hardware hacks that use HUGE 25AWG wire and terrible unkeyed connectors.

OK, so it looks like it's scaling 160x144 to 320x240, which means fuzziness and squashing but also the best GG screen I've ever seen. I wonder if it supports SMS mode games too?

Here's the official website
http://gglcd.bufsiz.jp/

FYI the board has been manufactured via march-rabbit and sold here:
http://www.march-rabbit.jp/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3970
But it sold out fairly quickly it seems. They should have a new batch next month. Price was 9,480円.

The recommended screen is:
www.aitendo.com/product/2404 (2,480円)

Attached manual revision 1. Someone may want to translate it into English?

Thanks Bock!
wow, I really want to get one. That is damn expensive (probably $100 US shipped) but possibly worth it.

Those LCDs are all over Ebay for $20 and under too :)

cmon...I dont speak Japanese and I don't use Twitter usually. If you could simply PM me his email I can ask my friend to translate a message to him to buy one.
I'm a long-time contributor to this forum and would appreciate some help here. I"m not just spamming a dumb question.
