Is there a list of available fields for scans?
Post Posted: Wed Jul 09, 2014 2:42 pm
I uploaded some scans a while ago and I had filled all the fields in the page. Then I saw a "Barcode" field in another scan and I added it to mine. It took me a couple of minutes to realize I had to write the nunmbes instead of uploading a scan of the barcode.

So now I'd like to know, is there anything else I can add to the scans? Are all the fields documented somewhere?

It's entirely dependent on which fields we look for in other pages. These are mostly the ones at:

http://www.smspower.org/Scans/GroupHeader
http://www.smspower.org/Scans/GroupFooter

Look for "$:", although the flipbox parts omit that...

ScanOf
AverageSize
PagePattern
Width
Height
ScannedBy
Notes
Barcode
Languages
LanguageTags
MainScan
NoLimits
R
SM
TM
MainScan
BoxText

Some of them alter the page behaviour, between single- and multi-image mode.

I'd love to make the software able to read the barcode from the image but it's kind of hard (I'd be porting code from C to PHP to do it), and even proper barcode reader software fails on 150dpi images. Better to type it in, and have the server confirm the checksum and the user visually confirm that it looks about the same,

Oh, I see the only "undocumented" field was "Barcode". Other fields are either present in the templates or added automatically.

Don't worry about barcode conversion. I only mentioned that to describe what I did in my failed attempts before figuring it out (by viewing a page with barcode in edit mode). Adding image-to-barcode conversion is probably not worth it.
