Games Released in Australia
Post Posted: Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:10 am
I went through most of my collection and the following can be added to the Australia/Ozisoft list:
Desert Strike
F16 Fighter
My Hero
Populous
S.C.I. (Special Crime Investigation)
Zillion 2 - The Tri Formation

I found a couple of anomalies though:
Ghost House - made in Japan but a receipt in the box shows it was purchased at a major Australia department store
Wimbledon - made in Japan but a receipt in the box shows it was purchased at a major Australia department store

Some observations:
Speedball (1990 Image Works) is made in Australia but Speedball (1992 Virgin) is made in Japan
Xenon 2 Megablast (Image Works) is made in Australia but Speedball (Virgin) is made in Japan

Being available for purchase at a shop doesn't mean an official release. Some US releases were sold by major retail chains in the UK, for example, but we don't consider that a UK or European release.

Thanks asynchronous. I omitted those games for some odd reason they are correct. I am almost certain Zillion was released over here as well, but for some reason I have the european versions of zillion 1 and 2 in my lot.

I agree. This list is combined when the cartridges say the game was made in Australia or by Sega Ozisoft, not games made in Japan. That's why I separated the Babors games. I hope I'm not being too picky =)

Aussies (and everyone else) help add to this list! I'm sure there is another 5-10 games I'm missing.

Australian-released games are not comprehensively documented on master system fan sites. They should be we have more Master System games per person than any other country!!

We have one of the biggest master system game databases when it comes to individual titles, having many more games being released here than in Japan or the USA. Possibly even more than Brazil and Europe.

Check the back of your game cartridges if you have time, see if it says sega ozisoft, or Australia on the back of the cart.

If its "made in japan" then its not ours, but imported here, big w, target, world 4 kids, toys 'r' us, video ezy, etc. are all guilty of doing this! Even ozisoft did this with some games!

Many of our mega drive games are imports by ozisoft (some are even ntsc genesis games, but the kind which don't have region lockout) I think all our Saturn games are ozisoft imports.

Those two 4-in-1 games mentioned on this site, can anyone confirm that they're Australian in origin, and not imported here from Asia and sold here by some shops?

They look like asian imports for me that would've showed up in paddys or something. I think it's just an error.

HES only made 4-pak-all-action for Master System

Tycho: the back of the cartridge says Ozi soft:
http://wip2.smspower.org/Scans/4In1M202-SMS-Cartridge-Back
Needless to say that doesn't make them official, but it seems probable that there origin is from Australia. I can't recall where I got mine (will check).

That is pretty cool. There was a LOT of after market/third party/pirate hardware/software for sega consoles over here, mostly originating in PROC/ROC/HK, but released specifically for Aus/NZ. It'll be great if the manufacturer could be tracked down.

Alright, I agree. Australian release it is.

I'm starting to think the "soft box" games are USA origin, licensed for sale in Australia by Ozisoft...

Alright ozisoft collectors! Here's some more fun for you to hunt down :)

First of all before giving you the game list, there are 4 distinct manual types in Australia, some games have more than one of these, so hunting down every manual variant for every game is something to do if you're bored :) The variations are:
Short version without staple
Long version without staple
Stapled, Portrait-orientation.
Stapled, Landscape-orientation
On top of this, you have manuals made in Australia, and others made in other countries. Second most common is Japan

If white lines on red background cartridges are of interest, I can say:

Action Fighter
Alex Kidd High Tech World
Alex Kidd The Lost Star (although this one looks more white on brown)
Asterix
Bank Panic
Choplifter
Cool Spot
Double Dragon
Enduro Racer
F-16 Fighter
Ghost House
Laser Ghost
Master of Darkness
Power Strike (another brown one)
Pro Wrestling
Scramble Spirits
Sega Chess
Shadow of the Beast
Sonic the Hedgehog
Spy vs Spy
Super Monaco GP
The Ninja
Tom & Jerry
Wanted
Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy III : The Dragon's Trap (silver cart)

I also have a soft-box Transbot.

Thanks guys

Not to be too annoying but could you instead check the back of the cart and see if says "Made in Australia"? Euro/USA stuff are usually Made in Japan (sometimes Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc)

I am not certain that all white lines are Australian.

Also there are white background red text which are also often Australian. In europe these are the games which are white background blue text. I am guessing most/all of those games were released in Australia, but with the white background red text of course

And then there are the games with blue background and white text, such as many sonic and sonic 2 games found over here.

I looked through the games again and can tell you:

-All the white line games are OziSoft, except Scramble Spirits.
-My black-on-red Astro Warrior/Pit Pot is also OziSoft.
-My Master of Darkness is OziSoft, but has a smaller inscription, saying "Sega OziSoft Pty. Ltd."

Enduro Racer [Soft Box] Added :)

Could someone please go through the list and write down which USA/EUR games are not on this list? Such as Alf, Les Schtroumpfs, etc...

I have about 200 carts that I'm putting in my store and it'll be a lot easier to check the list of "missing" games from the list rather than fill-in-the-gaps =).

I'm hoping there's a few missing aussie titles in here to add to the evergrowing list! =D

This double pack "Aladdin and GP Rider", I found one on a portuguese store. Is it a wanted item?

I didn't have much time to look at it, it has no manuals, and the Aladdin cart is in a silver color.

The flags turn up by addition of game release info which is unfortunately very hard work - pretty much only Bock can do it, because it requires a lot of analysis of box types and product codes, etc and he tends to do per-game rather than per-region.

Haven't updated this in a while since this list seems to be rather complete?

If anyone wishes to help, I could use some verification! Please see "VERIFY ME" items on the front page. And also verification of "Sega Card" games not listed.

Anyway here are the minor updates...

-Alien 3 verified. Saw a cartridge on ebay and it had a white background and red print label.

-Great Soccer verified. It has been known for ages yet no one wrote it here =/. If any other Sega Card games are definately known to originate from Australia let me know.

-Unverified M201,M203,M204 4-in-1 multicarts in the non-ozisoft section. There's a M202 and M205 so these numbers are likely to exist as well. I know I have seen a number of people who own these pirates, if you can verify these or any others let me know! I've been buying MS stuff from Australia for 4 years and haven't come accross any of these yet...

I have only one of those silver cart games, sonic spinball, got it for $5 at a Cash Converters, I don't know about other silver carts, but sonic spinball has like scratches on the front of the cart, it's not scratches, it just how they were made.
