I have no idea either.
My friend stumbled on a batch of them, I'm getting some shortly. He cannot get them to run so maybe they are just blank cart, or damaged in some way, or actually not SG-1000 compatible?

That's really weird. "747絕地悍將" appears to be the Chinese name for the 1996 Kurt Russell film "Executive Decision." The "2.35:1 WS" on the cart is an aspect ratio. "AC.3" is an audio codec.

Oh that's great - wild guess: it's a pirate game, and the pirates when searching for a sticker/name to apply to some dodgy cartridge took what they had in hand, and this is the sticker from a preview dodgy copy of the movie then meant for ripping and VCD duplication (VCD are so 1996, remember).

That actually sounds likely, but I wouldn't think such a sticker would fit so snugly.

I've not seen an SG-1000 cart in person, so are we sure this isn't a 2600 cartridge or something? There's a lot of weird 2600 pirate carts.

I meant as in, quickly scanned and printed back (they just needed some material to print on the sticker).

The pinout here is matching SG-1000/MarkIII and fits in the consoles. I don't know of other consoles which matches it.

VCDs continue to this very day. (All those Chinese guys selling pirate discs in the street are actually selling VCDs.) Everyone in China is playing 320x240 letterboxed VCDs on their widescreen HDTVs.

lol.. I figured they had to still be common over there.. whenever I go into the local asian movie store there are shelves and shelves of Korean & Chinese VCDs.

(sorry.. O/T also)

Do love the cart though.. has a certain charm.

It's been solved elsewhere but I wanted to update this specific topic. Those cartridges are movie subtitles for a certain type of video player that supported them.

For laserdiscs ?
I heard once about an addon for certain kind of laserdisc readers that used this kind of cartidge for subtitles but never saw one.
Wondering if the cartidge were made from the same molds than the sg-1000 games.

Cartridge subtitles are pretty badass. I approve of this weird tech.
