Ys FM sound patch + name changes
Post Posted: Sat Aug 15, 2009 8:25 am
Hi, I made a patch for the english version of Ys that enables the FM sound-

http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/7/23/2519122/YsImprovement.rar

I updated my patch to not only re-enable the FM sound but also changes the names to their proper Ys names. I fixed what I had done wrong the first time and it should work on real hardware now (along with all emulators).

Thanks, if anybody plays through it and notices any text errors let me know and I'll try to fix them. I'm pretty sure I got all the instances of the names, but there might have been one that slipped through.

Thank you very much, I planned to play through this game since early 90s, but always postponed :) With your patch and with FM unit in my SMS I guess I can now enjoy the game to it's fullest.

Sweet, let me know if you actually try it on real hardware, I'm curious if it works or not for sure (fairly certain it should, but I would like verification). If it doesn't it'd be nice to know so I can fix it, I want to play it on real hardware too eventually (just waiting to find a good deal on a Japanese master system).

Somebody at romhacking.net just pointed out that apparently I uploaded the wrong version of the patch. Here's the correct one-

Sorry about wasting your guys' time:-( I just patched a couple fresh roms downloaded from a couple different sites with this one and then tested it in Meka and Fusion 3.61 to make sure it works so it's 100% good to go.

The last version wasn't working for me in Cogwheel, but the new version does. :-) Cheers!
