Just listening to the last one, I noticed that the Aztec songs were playing superfast compared to how they sound on my PAL SMS2. Is this likely due to differences between NTSC/PAL in the VGM player you use Jacko?

The other thought I had is you should post a playguide/playlist to the site so we have a breakdown of what all the songs were that played during a particular show.

Hey DJBass,

I have the plugin set to 60Hz, on next weeks show im going to start that debate and I would love to hear some listeners opinions via skype or something so everyone add scottjacko87 to your Skype and ill bounce between users. Heehhh.

Also im slack, I will do up some nice show notes for everyone of the songs that were played.

Also does anyone here think its a good idea to create a backup archive on disc and ill send it to someone?? (all the shows in uncompressed goodness)

I guess the next step would be a 24/7 recorded show that you could put onto your facebook page.

When I said "your" I didn't mean you Jacko. I was talking to everyone.

On social sites you can place a bit of code to have your favourite radio station playing. So I thought a SMS Radio station on these sites would be cool. The next stage.

So is the show going to be geared towards giving laughs now? (me hopes so)

Also, I don't think your use of 'propensity' was casual enough to warrant a special surprise I still haven't though of :p

Episode 10!
Post Posted: Fri Feb 29, 2008 3:50 am
Hey Folks,

Here is Episode 10 This show is way cooler then last weeks show, but there are the changes in the show mentioned in the show. Theres also lame jokes and of course lots of SMS music.

Thanks to Maxim for some cool ideas, your feedback was greatly appreciated. Also the links in previous posts need editing as I have re-named all the files :D

Shownotes are coming, im a lazy bum with this sort of stuff, hehe.

Thanks again for the continued support.

Your loyal host,
Scott

Hey All,

Sorry no show in a while, uni is simply a lot of work, and its imperative I keep on top of the work. However next Friday I plan to do a special easter show, so has anyone got any nice ideas that are easter themed for the show??

Thanks all

Yes vbt I plan on doing that in a couple of weeks.

I am really sorry folks uni study is just too much for me and I just dont have the time to squeeze in the shows. Holidays are soon though (I finish next Friday) so be sure to keep an ear out on this thread and the IRC channel for more info.

Ah cool Steve, we should work one day doing a show together, we could do it through Skype or simillar :P Even if its only a podcast only show I think it would still be rather cool to have 2 hosts.

Yeah sure why not, nah we would come to some form of agreement before we transmitted. I got uni break in a week or so, so I think then would be a cool time to do a tandom show.

NEW SHOWS COMING
Post Posted: Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:43 pm
Hey All,

Just posting quickly to let you all know that on Wednesday there will be another show... Finally..

Some drafts on the menu at the moment
- Moog Cookbook
- 2008 Music competition discussion
- Jazz themed SMS music

I will also be talking about the process I went through on how I created my music entries, and also be talking about some of the latest news about the site and last but not least will be talking about my SMS saga and how its finally come to an end.

This week I would love to have someone do an interview. What would be cool is if someone who did a music competition entry could come on and perhaps chat about the processes they went through in creating their musical masterpieces.

I look forward to your patronage during the live broadcast.

All the best folks,
Scott

I'm listening now, and you were right at one point after you were playing your entries. I thought to myself "what would Jacko say if I said that song needs more cowbell," in jest.

By the way, to figure out what the HECK it is about the cowbell joke, please read up on this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_cowbell

Cowbell explained!

could someone please tell me if the ID3 tag is screwed up, it will read SMS by Kel 'n' Kid. Its being caused by WMP accessing the net and it thinks it finds a better match for the file based on the name of the file, I wish it would just leave things alone!!

I was thinking Jacko that your show is very well suited to a podcast format, all you need is a RSS feed on the site so clients know where and how to download each show as you roll them out.

*Edit*

Listening to it now and all I can say is

Yes, Cowbell Got!

Go Will Ferrell

And go barfing man:
huaaaaaaaaaaghhhhh *slop slop slop*

And for the true joke of the cowbell and all it's hideousness the SNL gag is here http://www.funnyhub.com/videos/pages/snl-more-cowbell.html
Couldn't find one on YouTube, the SNL production keeps taking it off for copyright reasons.

And yes, the game Rock Band, pulls the cowbell gag too.

EPISODE 13!
Post Posted: Fri Aug 01, 2008 8:43 am
Yes,

Just as you were all thinking the show is dead, it isn't :P

Download for Eipsode 13 (32.5MB)

Today's show was 70 minutes jammed full of music, hope you enjoy it. This I think in my mind has been the longest show and one of the better shows for music.

Comments and suggestions welcome!

Also to download all our other shows head over to http://radio.smspower.org and go to Downloads where all shows are available.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Oh the address for tuning into the radio will be http://smspowerradio.listen2myradio.com I don't know the exact IP of the server at this time, but ill edit this post as soon as I know tomorrow morning. I will stream some music about 10 mins early to give people a chance to come in and tune in.

We are in the process of hopefully soon sorting out our own shoutcast server so just hang in there with the free server for one more show!

EDIT:
Heres the IP for todays show:
87.117.217.25
port:
34184

Hey Folks,

Episode 14 (38.8MB)

This is the longest show, coming in at 80:30, its jammed full of music like the last show and actually has quite a sizeable interview with one of the forum members. Please also see the Trivia Topic to post your answers for the trivia questions in the show.

Comments and suggestions please post either in this topic or drop us an email: radio@smspower.org :)

Thanks folks!

There's a few glitches in the site, actually.

- The shoutbox text is clipped (and looks nasty with ClearType) unless I remove the 0.9999 opacity CSS. This is presumably some library you're using for the fade-in.

- The shoutbox code is being served as an embedded <HTML> tag (I guess you just server-side-included it somehow) which degrades OK but is nasty.

- .shoutbox-list{max-width: 100px;} wastes space and screws up the fade

- What time is 12:8:46?

- Spot the problem with justified text in the "A few kinks to iron out" post.

- One table per row for the shows page? When it could (should) all be done with DIVs instead?

- "Eipsode"

- What happened to the show notes page? I know there weren't any on the old site either but at least they had a stub.

- Is "bliip" Dutch for "blip"? (Or even "Blipp"?)

- Might be nice to serve M3U/PLS files pointing at the MP3s so people can click and listen immediately; or even Flash players to listen in-browser.

</nitpick>

Maxim, some nice ideas.

At the moment im actually going through the shows. I plan to list the songs that are played in each show and at what time within the show they occur.

the m3u idea is also very cool, I will look into that. Also, I want to look at you know how albums have the little art thingo in some mp3s how do you do that??

And gah my stupid spelling errors, thats what you get for doing things with lack of sleep, ill go over it tomorrow while im at the LAN party with my mates, ill have time on my hands.

But thanks for the nitpick things Maxim, its needed in order to make a more professional result.

Album art is a JPG file embedded in the ID3 tag. I suggest Mp3tag for control over what ends up in there.
