Game Gear McWill mod (it's complicated)
Post Posted: Tue Jul 16, 2019 11:33 pm
Hi there, I'm new to those forum but Omar told me a lot of good things about it :)
My name is Cosmo, I'm from France, and right now, I'm trying to get into console modding. I've already made some GBA, DSLite.. But now it's the big move : GameGear Mc Will LCD replacement screen :D

After a lot of work, I've finally finished to sold everything in place on my Game Gear. Following the instructions was a little bit tricky I must say.
After all those efforts, I turned ON the Game Gear and : black screen :(

I have the sound playing, the cartridge is recognized because the music comes from it... but my screen is just black.. I will check everything again tomorrow, but if anyone here had the same problem, advice or questions, I'm super interested !
Thanks and have a great day…

Cosmo

You haven’t connected the csync from t2 to the far pad in the upper group.

I suggest you reread the instructions.

You also haven’t connected up the mode select pads to the buttons

You should probably also recheck you’ve soldered to the correct pads on the LCD connector, it’s looks like the wire you are using is really too large a gauge.

If you still need help drop me a PM

Thanks for your reply !!!! I will check everything again and follow the instructions, but I must admit that they are a little bit tricky to read right. Between the schemas and the texts, sometimes it's difficult to understand what you are doing, and when you are a novice like me, it's almost impossible to understand what you are doing =D
