Live SMS Game Dev

So after working on Positorb, i am thinking perhaps streaming myself programming an arcade game from scratch. Preferably have it community driven, and that means conducting polls for the game theme, possibly pod casting community games and interviews etc.

Has someone done this before? What you guys think?

I do have a twitch. I streamed Positorb a while ago. You may sub here if you like.

Oh nice, yeah a beat-em-up would be cool. Although, there is not enough sprites per line, without doing some sprite removal flickering trick. That would probably annoy players. Hmmm.

Back with episode 1 of Live SMS development.

EP 1

In this one, i create the project directory and begin working on the design document.

I'll do another stream next week where i start prototyping with place holder art.

Back with Episode 2 now on youtube.

In this episode, i go over the additional tools to get for converting the assets, setting up the palette files, and converting them to something devkit can read.

Past broadcasts are edited and uploaded to the Orange Revolt youtube, and soon to peertube for wider access.

Episode 3 will streamed today on twitch, in which i began programming the prototype.

Back with Ep # 3 of Live SMS Programming. In this episode, i started programming, where i added in the background and sprite palettes.

Note: there was a mistake made in an if statement in initGame function, that i am aware, and will correct in next episode.
