Game Gear ROM Hack -- Compressed Tile Graphics?

Hey all!
I have decided to undertake a personal challenge of altering the Streets of Rage 2 ROM for Sega Game Gear and change the sprites to that of the Ninja Turtles. I'm a novice and am learning but have hit a bit of a wall. I'm using Tile Layer Pro and found that at least 90% of the graphic tiles are scrambled. I'm guessing that this is some kind of compression technique. The problem is that I'm not able to find more than a single move for two different characters. I believe I've located most of the title screen as well. Sadly, the rest is scrambled. Are any of you able to point me in the right direction to possibly decompress the ROM so that it can be altered? Is there a different ROM hacking program that would work better? I've tried downloading and using Tile Molester but it won't even run on my computer. Thanks for the help guys. |
