Just a little demo to show that it's possible to reproduce Pico 8 palette/style on SEGA Master System.
The music made by Tibone is a track discarded from Duke Nukem.

It looks good on the pictures and in the video - but I have problems running it. I have tried with two Alex Kidd roms: They load and play well in Emulicious. Then I use the apply patch feature, and get the pico8 title screen. But I cannot proceed from here, as the game crashes when I click?

From KiddEd ReadMe:

Quote
KiddEd supports editing Alex Kidd in Miracle World [v1] (also known as Alex Kidd in Miracle World (V1.1)).

It does NOT support editing Alex Kidd in Miracle World [v0] (also known as Alex Kidd in Miracle World (V1.0)) and
the BIOS version of Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

Its ok to send a IPS patch... But would be better a ROM directly!

I believe hacks are sent that way because of legal concerns regarding the original not patched rom

Ah - that must be it! I suspected it was a wrong rom - unfortunately I lost my good, old hackable Alex Kidd rom, and did not consider the importance of versions when I downloaded a couple of alternatives for this compo.

Your implementation of the pico-8 style looks very promising - the pixelated adventures of Ryu! :) I have myself been wondering about this 8x8 format on the SMS: On emulators, one can clearly see and handle little Ryu, but on a hardware setup with a CRT TV (where things easily gets a little blurred), the sprites might be too tiny?

Checksum of original ROM to patch?
Post Posted: Mon Apr 02, 2018 8:24 pm
What should be the checksum of the Alex Kidd rom to patch? I get the title screen after patching, but when I press the button to start, it just cycles back to the title screen.
