Got an e-mail from Marat Fayzullin, to my surprise his old emulators such as Master Gear (and many others) are still being kept up to date.
This is the (paid) Android version of Master Gear: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg (Which got updated yesterday) And the Windows version is now free. http://fms.komkon.org/MG Changelogs are being posted on this newsgroup: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/emul8/2NMlzrDooGE https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/emul8/cDHkhu8YpHw Marat is the author of iNes, Master Gear, Speccy, fMSX, ColEm, AlmostTi, VGB, VGBA, many of them being among the first and earliest emulators to be made (he released lots of stuff in 1996 along with source code such as the Z80 emulator used by Meka.) Some of them might a little outdated by today's standard but they are still generally quite competent and probably a good fit for mobiles too. |

Ummmmmm....
Remember myself going to the unique computer with internet at my faculty and download from the komkom FTP a copy of an strange software called fmsx and a ROM of vampyre killer. It took about half an hour and them save to an 3.5 disk and test It on my 486dx at 66mhz. Snif..... Work of a genius. Great guy marat. :) |

It's OT but wow his iNES format proved to be woefully inadequate over time. And while probably fine for its time, the fact it hasn't been replaced is surprising. | |

Considering the complicated NES cartridge ecosystem and how little people knew about it back in 1996, it is a miracle it is still around. I think people like Byuu are trying to make proposal to replace it, but it's a hard battle to fight... a commonly shared NES game database may be a better fit imho.. |
