Smurfs 2
Post Posted: Fri Dec 01, 2017 7:01 pm
Hi there,

currently there are 2 copies of Smurfs 2 (Les Schtroumpfs Autour du Monde) available on eBay from an Italian seller:

391936870567
232580455697

The pictures are identical and the seller claims to have 2 (!) mint copies of the game. Other than that he reacts a bit huffy to questions about the game.

I don't consider buying these games. But still I'm suspicious and something about this seems fishy.

I'm not very good at spotting reproductions, but to me these photos look authentic, what do you say?

Bye

I believe there is a known seller of extremely accurate Smurfs 2 reproductions on Italian eBay, including using some source boxes with matching holograms. The fact is, Smurfs 2 is the best known rarity but in reality other games are less often sold, although maybe for lower prices. The cash rich collectors will be happy to pay for Smurfs 2, real or fake, and the hard core collectors will keep looking out for less well known rarities.

If this is a repro it would be fair to clearly state that in the description of the auction and also on the cover, then I don't mind someone buying this, otherwise this stuff gets spread around.

I know stuff on eBay which is 90+% fake, it's a pain in the ass.

I'd like to see the PCB, but the seller even refuses photos of the 2nd game.

I purchased my copy from this seller about 1-2 years ago while going for completing my PAL SMS set.

I've taken photos of the cart opened up for your viewing pleasure.

I believe the high quality fake ones have staples in the manuals. It's not glued/binded like this copy which I believe to be original.
