Generally considered to be the best Basic variant, I wonder if it can be ported to Sega consoles/computers? |

hmmm interesting... I guess it depends on if the SMS has enough resources to run it. Change any of the I/O, sound, or graphics commands as well if it has any that are custom to the bbc line.

Someone had a project to convert Sega Basic to SMS a few years back, with commands for the system's capabilities - I think most Basics are designed that way. Obviously it's tricky saving and loading files, though...

It would be interesting to see a floppy disk drive and some disk commands... I dont know how a write command would work but a read command could be simple given the drive had 48k of cache ram and the read command just dumped a new sector into a part of cache similar to bank swapping with a sega mmc.
I wonder if anyone has really attempted to make any of the Sega home consoles into a full fledged home micro computer? (well not including the Dreamcast) |
