The best games of the SG-1000
Post Posted: Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:22 pm
I'm a big fan of the SG-1000 and thought I would get a topic going! What do you guys think are the best games on the SG-1000?

My favorites are (In no particular order):

Monaco GP
Bomb Jack
Pacar
SEGA-Galaga
Chack'n Pop
Ninja Princess

Let me know your favorites? :)

I'd like to play a SG-1000 at some point, haven't even seen one in person.

I've only ever played the games on an emulator, I'm actually looking to buy one, but boy they can be pricey lol.

nice, good luck man. Rarest piece of sega hardware I've ever played is I believe the CDX. Friend owned one, we'd play golden axe 1 and 2 for hours.

I've actually seen one of those before. The CDX is great. I've only got a model 2 Genesis at home.

Wow, you had the whole set it seems like! I had only gotten my model 2 from a flea market about 4 years ago lol. I'm looking into getting an av cable, I'm stuck with a dumb RF box at the moment.

Now the only add on I have is a raphnet power base converter. It seems to work really well, even on my retron 3.

I would've gotten one of those by now if it worked on the model 2 lol.

Works pretty damn well, was playing after burner on it earlier. And had my friend 3d print this casing for it, though mine is black rather than red.

Haha I actually really like the red lol. I'm definitely gonna pick one of these up, and since there are 3d printers at my University, I should be able to make a case for it as well.

Only real downsides, no card games but i can live without those. And he said he couldn't get the pause button to work so they didn't add one. Going to see if a friend and I can't figure something out to get one working.

Can't go wrong either way for a little over 20 bucks, or a little under depending on which one you buy, the DIY kit, or already assembled.

My favorite SG-1000 games are:

The Castle (probably the best game on the system imho)
H.E.R.O.
Pitall II
Ninja Princess

Great list! I had actually forgot about Pitfall II, that's also a great one :)

I really enjoy Gulkave, it's a side scrolling shmup with great music.

Nice recommendations! I also especially enjoyed Zaxxon, Q*Bert, C_So!, Flicky, Othello, Girl's Garden, Star Force, Space Invaders, Sindbad Mystery, Sega Flipper, and Rock 'N Bolt.

edit: and Chack 'n Pop I'll second too — at least once I realized the two trigger buttons drop bombs in opposite directions!

By no means the best game, but I was pleasantly surprised by Golgo 13. I played it way longer than I had intended. So check this one out.
It's more fun than it looks.

Oh yeah! I've actually played this one before, it is pretty fun I'd say. I wish there was an easy way to play SG-1000 games on a master system lol. I know it's possible on a Mark III tho.
