Super Kick Off TEAM MODE?

Im trying to play 2 player coop on super kick off on the master system. The manual says this is possible by selecting team mode with player 1 controlling the players and player 2 controlling the goalie. But the goalie seems to still be controlled by the computer . Has anyone had this issue?

I also would like to understand better wether this option is real or vapourwave.
I see the game is tagged as "cooperative" due to its inclusion: by the way, the same option is theoretically present in Tiertex World Cup USA '94, at least according to the game's manual, although I am not able to verify it in-game...
