Pete Sampras Game Gear US-version question

I just received two copies of Pete Sampras for the Game Gear in USA purple style box. After a while I noticed stickers on the back with a Sega Pro rating, which is a UK based magazine. Also on the back of the manual there is a sticker over the usa contact information. After searching the web I didn't find pics without the stickers.
I suspect the game maybe never be sold in the USA. So I wonder if there is any more info.
