Italian game magazine scans
Post Posted: Tue Jan 23, 2018 6:13 pm
Hi all,
Just found a fantastic website containing scans of a ton of videogame magazines.

http://www.dizionariovideogiochi.it/doku.php?id=riviste_di_settore

Looks like they have uploaded scans from many old sites (most of them being down now)

Just started going through them.

Even if I said that I was going to leave indefinitely and never post again, it goes without saying that if you'll ever need a translation from anything Italian feel free to ask me. I still want to help despite what happened.

Not sure what happened but for me, whatever happens, the passion and the preservation of anything sega-related is the most important thing ^^

I'm starting digging through this site this week-end to find stuff for guardiana and will try to do for italian magazines what I started to do here http://www.smspower.org/forums/16911-FrenchMagazinePlayerOne (but since I can't read italian, you would most certainly be more effective doing it ^^)

While that I'm at this, it is also probably worth mentioning that I have a few dozens magazines (whose conditions range from perfect to half destroyed, then again I was 8) doing nothing but collecting dust on one of my shelves. I've been considering to make a big package and send them all to either someone here or someone at Sega Retro. I don't even want to gain money from them, I'd be fine if someone just covers the shipping cost. But that's for another time.

Back to the topic at hand, as I said, if you'll want me to translate a few articles for you, feel free to ask. It's unrealistic to even think that I can translate the whole of all those magazines, but some selected articles now and then should be fine.

One thing I did a while back (and more needs to be done) was to flick through the pages of multi format magazines (I was in IrfanView, many alternatives exist) and delete the ones with no Sega 8-bit interest. This might be an interesting exercise, although it can end up a bit subjective (do ads count? Do I have to read all the news?).

Actual articles seem to be quite rare... but usually interesting.
