Best sad music in SMS games

Hi

I'd like to know in your opinion which SMS games (not FM) do you think has the best sad/emotional soundtrack. I take as example "Epitaph level" on Master of Darkness, or some level of Ecco the Dolphin.
Thank

Certainly Ecco was an emotional game.

It's hard to find examples because most games were happy pop music affairs.

Closest I can think of is the apocalyptic music from Populous.

The most poignant tune that comes to my mind right now is the credits ending song of Sonic 2 (specially if you didn't manage to rescue Tails).

Yeah, Ecco was a great game, I still remember its music being quiet emotional. Maybe the game was a bit difficult, I think I remember.
I never liked when every games had that happy style for both music and story. Another one I always considered "not happy" sort of strangely sad was Space Harrier... I don't know but it always gave me sad feelings that game.

Many games' ending music is more emotional, Wonder Boy III for example.

But I would not listen to sad music too much!

"Pseudo Japan" (also used in title screen) from Dynamite Dux and "Skull Land" from Psycho Fox are somewhat melancholic.
