FPGA Sega Master System by students at Carnegie Mellon University

Really cool project, I sure wish I learned to do that sort of thing at University.

Hi Bock and Maxim,

Last semester, we made the Sega Master System on an FPGA as our capstone design project at Carnegie Mellon University. We used a Z80 from OpenCores, but we wrote the VDP and PSG from scratch in SystemVerilog. We wouldn't have been able to complete our project without the documentation from SMS Power. Thank you for all of the thorough documentation that made our project possible! I have attached our project report and a picture of us during our project demo. Feel free to share our report with anyone who might be interested.

Very cool.

I also never had the opportunity to do stuff that cool during my Comp Sci degree.

Kevtris has been working on an fpga multi-system for a few years now. I believe he already has sms and gg implemented. ( As well as virtually every 8-bit system imaginable)

Wow, that's so cool. :)
I always wanted to learn FPGAs. We didn't have anything nearly as cool as that back in my comp sci course. :(

Freaking fantastic. I'd be very interested in designing a PCB for this if you all decide to finish off the graphics II work and such. It could potentially go into production.
See my website for info on what I've designed: https://segasonicfan.wixsite.com/retro

Thanks for sharing, Bock!
