sms games of jvc x'eye with everdrive?
Post Posted: Fri Mar 31, 2017 12:08 am
I have a JVC x'eye and a Mega Everdrive X7 but always get a blank screen when I try to load a SMS game. Anyone know how I can get SMS games working on it?

This's a bit of a wild guess, but are you booting with a 32x in between?

32x's preclude Master System compatibility thanks to not passing the relevant cartridge lines through.

No 32x connected, I have asked in everdrive forums and support with no answer. This tells me this has something to do with how the everdrives work. So I thought I would try there. I would have asked at Sega-16, but I've been trying to join the forum with no luck for six months.

I might mess with a couple things, but people say real carts work with the powerbase converter. I'll see if I can manually trigger SMS mode as I have a Genesis to MD cartridge converter that I can butcher. I've kind of given up though at this point. I've order a Japanese Master system, adapter and master everdrive. Both the adapter and everdrive have arrived, the SMS should show up before long.

SEGA-16's registration system is a bit of a mess, sadly. Burnt by too many spambots. Let me know your registered username, and I'll post in this thread for you.

Apart from that, I can't think of any reason why Master System software shouldn't work. I'm kind of disappointed the Everdrive forums could not assist you.

JVC x'eye supports directly booting Master System games. Any Genesis 2 compatible converter will work.

But it cannot switch from Genesis mode into SMS mode, preventing loading SMS games from a Genesis flash cart.

Oh, hell. I didn't know that. Is there a reason for this?

I would really like to know this too! Is the issue similar to the Nomad where it needs a single wire mod in order to play SMS games?

No. A different issue.
If you don't care for 3rd party adapters, an official European Master System Converter II can fit and play on the X'eye.
