Congratulations on the release! The love you all put into it is readily apparent. I'll be getting it tonight.

Just got this today and I'm really impressed! It looks and plays even better than expected. I've enjoyed switching around the options in the retro mode. It's my first time really playing the game, so it's all fresh to me. Really like the art style in this. The music is well done, too. Thanks for doing this remake.

Just dropping in (for the first time since the game was announced) to say congratulations on the release and that I absolutely LOVE the remake. I bought it immediately after the PlayStation Store updated yesterday and fired it up as soon as it finished downloading. I haven't felt so excited to play a game in a long time and it completely lived up to the hype.

I streamed a bit of gameplay, along with what I've unlocked in the gallery thus far, which can be seen at the end of the video. I guess a spoiler warning is in order. lol

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ddFcAkvV95U

Thank you guys so much for allowing me to relive one of my favorite games of all time.

So what is the best version in terms of anymation/ feautures/framrate/tearing?
Switch
XboxOne
PS4

I guess the Switch version is only playable with the pro controller.
I'll buy a system just for this game, help me decide which system it shall be

The game looks great. Thinking if I should wait the PC/Steam version, or get it on the XOne :)

Also, I know its a long shot... but is it possible to have a "Monica" DLC? Maybe sort out the rights with Mauricio de Souza and his crew?

Having finished the game on PS4, I can tell you that the game runs at a constant 60fps, with no screen tearing whatsoever in both remastered and retro modes. I'd imagine that the game looks and runs great for each console though.

I'd recommend the PS4, if only for the fact that it has a pretty huge library of games already with a ton more on the way. The Switch would be a great option as well, since you'd be able to take the game on-the-go, although it's still too early to tell if third-parties will support them a year or two from now.

The game is identical on all platforms, apart from:
- PS4 and XB1 have trophies (Switch doesn't have them)
- Switch has Rumble

In waiting for PC release while others enjoy on their consoles there can be no patience, only envy.

I don't even have a copy of those. It's an inlay and a manual and cardboard cartridge. DotEmu wanted to make them to send to a few selected press, and I helped with some contents. But it makes me _cringe_ a little because however cool they are, I'd rather make something for everyone than for 20 people. Please wait a little and we will figure out a way to make and share a superior version for everyone. Maybe we can work with Ichigobankai to make something! (I'm just too busy this week to look at your e-mails Ichigo.. soon).

Next pay check I am buying this for my PS4. It looks so perfect.
I'll also buy a physical copy if one gets made. That would be beyond perfection.

It is getting made. I saw it on Play-Asia. Expected to be released on July.

The game looks great. Haven't played it yet (never went before the 16-bit consoles) but I thought I'd let you know that
the game was reviewed by Windows Central with a perfect (5 out of 5!) score.

What will be the minimum requirements for the PC version?

I don't know! I will know when I am finished with it!

Posted a few small bits today. The OST has a total of 30 tracks: http://www.thedragonstrap.com/blog/post/201705_Soundtrack/

Nothing new for those who already played the game tho :)

I cross my fingers that you can find a solution regarding the soundtrack.
Something like this in CD format would be epic, I love soundtracks^^

Playing this game has been one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long time! My only regret is that having played WB3 over and over again through the years I know the game inside out, so I can only imagine what it would be like to forget all I know about the game and enjoying the experience of having to explore and figure out what to do and where to go for the first time. I've watched some Youtubers play this remake (like this one ), and I envy them the experience of playing WB3 for the first time.

Luckily there are some new things in the game for us "experienced WB3-players" to explore, so that was a nice surprise!

Of course the best thing about this remake are the beautiful graphics. This is pure art! And of course the music too! I love that this remake makes WB3 more accessible to new gamers, who maybe (or most likely) would never even think about playing it. Most of the American retro gaming Youtubers I watch never even mention Wonder Boy (let alone the Sega Master System), so I guess it's mostly us Europeans who remember and love this game. But maybe that will change now :)

I hope there's more to come from you guys! A remake of Wonder Boy in Monster Land would be awesome - using the WB3 engine. Then it could be possible to combine the two games - The Dragon's Trap is after all just a continuation of Monster Land. Being able to backtrack and go back to the Monster Land levels, exploring them and do new stuff, after you've defeated the dragon would be very cool! I guess there are many possibilities to expand the game and make it bigger (like in the Dragon's Curse fan remake of WB3, which was fantastic).

Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate you with this beautiful, magic game, which truly brings back childhood memories. Thank you so much!

Thanks Tommy!
I personally love Monster Land too... maybe in the future :)

In other news-
We managed to find a deal with LimitedRunGames for a PS4 edition along with a collector edition:

https://twitter.com/LimitedRunGames/status/861966544955486208

Note that LRG releases are unfortunately known to be in rather short supply and be out of stock _very very fast_ (sometimes within an hour). If you are interested you will need to watch their space (or our own twitter, or here) to know when it gets released this summer.

A bit of a shame it isn't a PC or Switch physical release. But I suspect this won't stop many collectors that themselves lack a PS4!

We're talking with them to try to increase the release number. And of course there is the physical ARC release on play-asia but it may be less special :) PC and XB1 are unlikely but we are still figuring out if Switch is possible and how.. we'd love to do Switch.

Omar, maybe they could do some sort of preorder prepaid release thingy ?
Never heard of any company that would release 2000 copies only of something if they got 3000 paid preorders ^^

PC version (Steam, GOG, Humble)
Post Posted: Thu Jun 08, 2017 1:07 pm
FYI the game is available today for PC

STEAM:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/543260/Wonder_Boy_The_Dragons_Trap/

GOG:
https://www.gog.com/game/wonder_boy_the_dragons_trap

HUMBLE:

I have never been so terrified of a release, knowing that PC release rarely ever go 100% smoothly. So I am expecting to have to fix random compatibility issues for the next few weeks :D

Will be reviewing shortly. Amazing release and I really wish other companies would take note on how cool this is and offer even half the quality and love put into this when they rerelease games.
