Never played wonderboy 3 but good to see more classic games getting official remakes. Hopefully you guys can eventually move on to other SMS classics too.

Wow, what great news! When I saw it was getting a remake, I was quite hesitant about getting too excited, but seeing Bock's name attached to it gave me a huge boost in confidence. I'll be eagerly awaiting and/or port begging for this.

Wow, great news Bock. I´m speechless now^^ The first impressions look fantastic =)

It must have been a huge task to convince Sega for doing this.

Together with Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, Wonder Boy experiences a 2nd spring now =)

Awesome, that guy's art is good so high hopes here. Too many remakes and such look like Flash or phone games. This doesn't seem to be the case. :)

The artwork looks trully amazing. Poster worthy.
WBIII, easily the best and most impressive game for the SMS (that or Shinobi)
Can't wait, only 7 something hours until the reveal.

It's not just pretty cool, it's amazingly cool! So much looking forward to this!

And so much to look forward to for us Wonder Boy fans these days - both an official remake of one of the best games ever made (the artwork looks fantastic!) and of course Monster Boy - a completely new Wonder Boy game. I wonder why they couldn't get the rights to use the Wonder Boy name though. This Dragon's Trap remake shows it's not impossible after all.

Oh, and I still haven't given up the hope that the unofficial Monster World RPG will one day be finished.

Sometimes I´m asking myself why so many people saying that Wonder Boy III is the best Master System game. It lacks of role playing elements, which makes it hard to find out what to do next. That´s why I like Monster World more. I don´t say that Wonder Boy III is bad, I like it, but it´s hard to play for the reasons I´ve mentioned. I hope that the remake will get RPG elements.

If there is any little chance to bring it to the Wii U, count on me I support you!

My first post on SMS Power but it had to be in this topic.

I just watched the video and I instantly fall in love with your project Bock !
Usually remakes are not my stuff, but those artworks and this video have the needed little extra regarding the atmosphere.

I wish you all the best.

PS: is there a presentation thread on SMS Power?

Great news!

Something's wrong with the site, though. The counter is negative and frozen, and nothing is revealed.

Perhaps clear your cache or do a hard refresh on the tab? I can see a bunch of stuff and a YouTube embed. Don't know if I'm supposed to link it here though.

Wow, this looks very good and very faithful to the original (which is a good thing), you must be quite proud of yourself to be part of the official remake of such an awesome and legendary Master System game :-)

The game engine is somehow using the original Master System ROM program/data?

Isn't DotEmu a company known to release old games using the original ROM and emulation by the way?

The trailer and all the artworks look super cute, a big compliment to the artist/s. As a huge fan of classic cartoon series from the 80´s and 90´s, I really like the graphical style of your game.

The Youtube reactions are amazing, glad to see this =)

Thanks everyone for your help. Yes, I've tried realoading agan and it works fine now.

Awesome game trailer and great site. The game looks very impressive. You've used the smallest available font for the website, though :/

Looking forward to more detailed information about pricing and availability.

I wonder what/how has been the deal with Sega regarding this and why that 'Monster Boy' game couldn't get the same type of arrangement.

It's looking good. I would have prefered the original Monster World II title, but at least you didn't go with the wrong 'III' numeral and simply removed it like it was in the case of the Game Gear version. This was never Wonder Boy III (that's Monster Lair), more like Wonder Boy IV actually, also keeping in mind that Monster World III is officially labelled as Wonder Boy V.

This is what I'm wondering as well - others have tried to get the right to use the Wonder Boy name and failed. They say on Facebook that they have been "assured" it's all good. I'd want 100% confirmation from SEGA themselves, personally, or it could result in a bit of pain.

Putting that aside, this looks fucking amazing. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is my favourite game ever. I was excited for Monster Boy, but this has me trying to conceal boners at work. Can't wait to give it a go!

There is one thing has brought me back to my old stomping ground, this forum, before Facebook and all is the best game ever.
How did you get permission from Sega?
I hope there is plans for Android and not just consoles. I can't wait you guys and congratulations.

We have only announced a vague "Consoles/PC" so far and we aren't sure of details. Mobile would only make sense if we make it play well..

Can't elaborate much right now. Also see LogBomber's other thread.

Bock, i'm curious....is the 1989/3/1 in the top right hand corner a sly nod to the game's proposed release date?
