Using Mod2PSG2 programming library
Post Posted: Mon Feb 08, 2016 11:43 am
Hi,

Does anyone here have any experience of using the programming library that comes with Mod2PSG2?

I would like to use it, specifically to get modules onto the Game Gear, but I don't really understand it at all. I had a look at the site for WLA-DX, which also left me somewhat bewildered.

It would be great to know if this is the best way to get music onto the Game Gear, and just to have a little bit more info on it. I've read the 'read me' file a few times, and looked at the example file, but I'm very much new to whatever it does, and I can't really make any sense of it.

Thanks

Stuart

Have you programmed in assembler before? If not, you'll have a hard time.

Note that mod2psg2 is by no means a module converter, it's more of a tracker with module import functionality. A straight conversion will probably sound quite raw.

Hi

I haven't programmed in assembler, no.

From what you've said, I think I should avoid it.

I've been using Mod2PSG2 as a tracker, and I wanted to play some of the music I've made on a real chip. Is there any other way to do that? Ideally I was hoping to play it on the Game Gear to get the stereo functionality.

I'm sure someone could make a simple ROM builder. Are you using Windows?

Would a single track player be OK? Or would you want something more releasable?

Initially a single track player would be fine, and I could record the audio from GG. Maybe eventually I'd like to be able to use GG in live shows and that might need more than a single track player. But a single track player would be a great start.
