The Black Onyx patch
Post Posted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 7:16 pm
Hey everybody I compiled Bruce Tomlin's translated source so I could make a patch for anyone interested.

I also had some fun adding some enhancements (in my opinion) to the game such as removing the screen flashing when you move, different colors, and I expanded the rom so I could have some room to put graphics in the shops/battle scenes (very simple, but they're better than pure black).

Both patches are included in the rar.

It's great to be able to play this game in english!
But boy, is it ever hard.

If you want to "improve" the game, I suggest doubling the experience points gained from fighting monsters. I played a ways into the game, and my party all have the best armour, the best weapon, and the best helm, and still get's it's ass kicked quite rapidly at the bottom of the well.

Actually that's a pretty good idea, I wish I'd thought of that originally. If I get some time I'll update the patch with that added in.

Hahah yeah I know... I'd like the GG everdrive too!

But right now don't have enough money for them (sort of went on a slightly crazy shopping spree for Megadrive items)

Plus I suck in programming (obviously) so winning it is not an option :P
