Barcodes

Maybe I'm over-geeking on this point, but bear with me.
I thought it might be interesting to have some info on the barcodes on Sega 8-bit games, for a couple of reasons: 1. Ultimately we'd like to have all this in the museum 2. It might be a useful thing to have available in the future (e.g. barcode-based collection software) 3. Others are welcome to take it, e.g. MobyGames collects barcodes 4. It might have some useful information in there On the last point, it is useful because barcodes tell you two things: 1. The country and company of the maker. This helps show up which games were which third party and which were first-party. 2. The internal sequence numbers of that company. There's 5 digits available for the company to do what they like, and it's interesting to figure out their code, the order in which they were assigned, and to see where the gaps are. Anyway, I've leeched all the barcodes from MobyGames, and typed in all the barcodes in the scans section for GG and SG games, and SMS games from A to Q, and the results are here: http://www.smspower.org/dev/docs/wiki/BarCodes/BarCodes |
