Don't be helpless.

Connect things that are labelled the same. The SMSReader is build on veroboard which the GG connector will not fit on, so there's some work to do to make a suitable connection.

Alternatively, you can make a GG->SMS adaptor (GG cartridge port to SMS cartridge) and plug it into an SMSReader.

Seems about right. All GND pins can be connected to each other; most carts do that anyway.

If you feel like making more of these I'm sure you could sell them for a fair price.

Note that the overlines on the pin designations is important - but they're all matching anyway. Also note that you won't get far with one of these adaptors plugged into a real system:

Besides the obvious palette problems, I guess Maxim said that because the Master System doesn't have a Start button, so you won't be able to start several games which require you to press it.

As long as you use it to dump games it would be fine, though.

You can try it by writing a GG rom onto an SMS flashcart and patching the header. On the games I tried, it would either fail to get past the title screen (can't detect Start button being pressed) or it'd go into the game (since the SMS hardware appears to the game to have the Start button held down) and then pause immediately. Nothing was playable. The retina-burning colours make it nasty to look at. If the game has stereo music, that usually crashes the game because the hardware interprets it as a write to the memory control register, and promptly disables/enables ROM, RAM etc according to the stereo mix.

excludeing the games with stereo sound, would it not be possibull, to say hack a md controler on to the sms, (that way you have a start button) or is it due to the (hardware of the SMS, its self) idd be intrested to know your thoughts on this

(as you know the GG has TV pins on the cart slot, could one not just wire thoes to the RGB port of the master system, so it does the display though that (should give full colour out, as seen with the post of the GGTV hack useing the controler chips etc (since uk tvs are scart thus being RGB) it would be intresting if possibull, to make a unit sega never intended to make,

43 TV TV cartridge signal
44 TVSNDR TV's right channel (STEREO R)
45 TVSNDL TV's left channel (STEREO L)

44/45 are the left and right audio channels according to this and we know scart leads carry audio, so one could in theroy, wire pin 44 / 45 direct to the scart cable audio pins to put straight to the telly, whilst 43 (TV cartridge signal (is that the tv out pin) if so one could use that to the rgb port / or though a GGTV hack would have to recsearch that a bit more)

The TV, TVSNDL, and TVSNDR are inputs from the TV Tuner cartridge into the Game Gear. You can't use them to get audio or video output.

You can get stereo audio output from the headphone jack, and the "GGTV" RGB modification would be needed to get video output.
