A Good amount of compile games have sound tests. Their games tend to have a good amount of high quality tracks. All the game gear games have a trigger. The music ID is loaded into the first location and triggered at the second. This is similar to a few other companies, but Compile uses its own engine. This type of trigger is not very common. A peculiarity of the engine used in these games is that the music id ID can be located in several places. The values above list the second location. Setting F1 to the first location and entering $01 at the trigger location stops music play back. Triggering the value at the second location is done by entering $02. There can be up to 16 music id locations, but in practice, only the first two are used. GG Aleste II also has fade-out ($F3) and Fade-in ($F4) effects. GG Aleste and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (A rebranded Puyo Puyo game) use a combined id/trigger, as is typical of most games with a trigger. Aleste loads low ids and adds $80. Dr Robotnick uses what appears to be the SEGA SMPS engine (or very similar implementation). All GG games besides the Aleste series relate to the Puyo Puyo franchise, which is what Compile is well known for, besides their work on interesting shooters. No binding theme connects the Master System Games, although a few do feature excellent use of the FM chip. The SG-1000 games have not yet been hacked.

  10. ^ Pause Hack is buggy, prone to crash. An alternative entry was sought and not found. In this case, a Pause Hack was preferred if an ideal location near the beginning of the game was not found, as it is more versatile.
